Mini Big Roy Versatile Tractor Pretty sweet
We will be doing another video showing more details and questions about the built but it was a 4 year design and build with the body taking about a year with most work done during the winter. The rear frame is a 224 case garden tractor with a 14hp kohler motor hydrostatic drive rear axle witch drives the front rear buy chain making all 4 rear wheels drive. The front wheels all free wheel allowing the driving the sit in the cab and drive via a joy stick control. The rear hood lifts off and the front cab and hood hinge to the right for the driver to get in. It has a steel frame with all the body being made of plywood. Yes 3/4" plywood with our proprietary sealing and sanding technique allowing automotive paint to be used and achieving a high gloss finish that has fooled some body guys. Planetary drives were hand made and resin cast, the tires are 24" tall with 12" rims and the machines about 11 feet long. Like Big Roy the rear view is terrible so we installed a rear view camera with a 4" screen to help with reversing. The mini was unveiled at Big Roy's 40th Birthday Party at the Manitoba Agricultural Museum we painted it the "Museum Version" since the Big Roy was recently restored and painted the original "Factory Version" allowing people the view the 2 versions. Versatile Manufacturing was notified about this project and were excited to be a part in any way they could. Thank you for you interest and if your still wondering why we would do this, it's just a father spends big time with his 4 boys doing something that can leave a lasting impression on what's possible with a good old fashion small town can do attitude.
